Art
Most of my art is done on recycled materials. The portraits of the afro-Colombian children (those with the bright colored backgrounds), for example, are made on ‘tableros de construction’. A ‘tablero de construccion’ is a wooden board used in my country to provide provisional support in building sites. I use these kinds of materials because I like the idea of creating art out of things that many discard as un-useful. It is a way of showing ordinary things can be made extraordinary… it’s just a matter of seeing their potential.
The portraits I paint are mostly children of the foundation I work with Fundamor. To learn more about the work of the foundation and children, visit Social Service.
